My first DSLR was a 700D (this is the equivalent). This would be on the lowest end for DSLR I would go. DSLR is obsolete technology now as things are shifting towards mirrorless. However I still find compatibility issues going mirrorless for dentistry photography, especially with finding ideal lenses and avoiding adapters. Currently for a dental set up I would recommend to stick to DSLR.
You will still need to buy a macro lens however as the lens included is pretty average.
